This morning I volunteered at a breakfast with Santa, which I was pretty excited about actually (even though my kids are all past that age). I feel like I’m just doggy paddling through the holiday season, focusing on getting through each event or social gathering or rough day. I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to get into the holiday spirit. “Would you like a coffee?” One of the other volunteers asked me when I arrived bright and early this morning. “YES! I’d love one!” I replied. “Kahlua, spiced rum, or baileys in it?” She asked with a wink. “Ohh.. umm.. nothing thanks… “. Talk about not even expecting it at all! Speaking of coffee though, I have finally come to appreciate a cup of really good coffee. Wow! I mean really sip and savour a good brand. Coffee to me has always been a quickly gulped affair in the morning, trying to wake my fuzzy brain up, or a “I’ll take kahlua, spiced rum AND baileys *wink*” beverage.
Hmmm… 54 days π
At least you are still paddling. Doggie paddling is a legitimate way of getting from one side of the water to the other.
I think I’m in a little boat with a tiny paddle about the size of a spoon.
LOVE COFFEE! No Kahlua for me thanks, *wink wink, double wink*
Come on sober buddy, we’ve got this!

Just to clarify – the egg nog that you buy in the grocery store that has ZERO alcohol haha!

Coffee and cream is my little piece of heaven. Alcohol ruins coffee in my humble opinion. Cream is far more indulgent and delicious. Naughty but nice.

Seriously? Booze at a breakfast for Santa!! Shame, shame, shame. And I too loooovvve my coffee in the morning. I used to do what you did, gulp it down to get the headache at bay..no more, now I savor it, every drop. I think mornings are the best thing about being sober:] You’re doing great by the way.l

Thanks Audrey! Yes, by the end of the 3 hr event quite a few of them were pretty tipsy! I felt great and went and did some Christmas visiting, visiting, out for dinner, then home and wrapped presents. Great day, and a LOT different than it would have been if I’d hit the bottle in the am lol.

I too am a coffee connoisseur these days. It’s amazing! I have a chocolate flavored brew this morning, combining a few of my favorite things.
I was invited to “Naughty Santa II” by a friend, but I don’t think watching a drunk Santa is all that funny. It would be interesting to know how many of them have flasks hidden in their costumes.
(I was going to go on and on about a drunk Easter Bunny I saw once, but I’ve clearly had too much caffeine. Ciao!)

Wow what a close one.
I like your paddling analogy. You were paddling until a tsunami approached in he form of an Irish coffee. Ummm. Coffee.

Thanks Mark, yes a tsunami is what it felt like, that’s for sure!
